I liked Ritzenhein's answer. Ritz, who says he likes to write his training down on paper as it's more personal and feels like a journal that way, said “It would be like a company just posting their business plan and protocols for everyone to see and use. I have no problem sharing it with anyone who asks, I just don't want it available for anyone at anytime.â€
I personally think it's a bit like how the Internet has evolved. When the Internet started, people started everything for free. Craigslist is free. Wikipedia.I always joke- no way would someone come up with that idea now and make it free. They'd try to make major cash.
Same thing with training. It seemed cool at first to give it away but now people realize, "Hey if everyone trains the same, then I'll lose to the most talented person."
