Apple unveiled a Nike version of its watch today. Now with GPS so you don't have to go full hobby-jogger with your phone in an armband. Anyone buying?

Also waterproof. I'll be reading the reviews first, but I'm seriously thinking about it.
If you want a hobby jogger watch, buy this one.
If you want a runner's watch, buy a Garmin or a Suunto or a Polar.

Seriously why? Are you religious or something?
Looks like the new one has a Nike+ version, is water resistant, and can count swim stokes or cadence. He should get the Nike+ version for sure. Rupp-Nike-certified.

Reading is not one of your skills.

Almost every hobby jogger I've known always wears a Garmin while running (at least over the past 5 or 6 years anyway).

I stopped wearing a watch for that reason many years ago. Every runner and hobbyjogger constantly looking down at their watch and gps. Ugh. I love to pass runners during a race when they look down at their watch.
Wonder if you'll be able to use the built in GPS on the strava app or if they'll limit it to only NIke+? Nike plus is hobby jogger central.

They said developers would have access to the GPS chip. Nothing about Nike+ only. Strava will make an update to take advantage of the new features.

Since you´re passing hobbyjoggers during a race you must be one of them.

Not if he starts at the back just to overtake the hobby joggers and then the leaders, that's the most fun races.

Wouldn't you love to start at the back, in a race Rossi was in, run up behind him, pretend to struggle, wait for him to look down at his watch, inch past him, let him try to catch up, and then speed up and leave him in the dust. It could also be any other egomanical hobby jogger. Sounds like fun.
Sounds like

I would rather make him run the entire course by running next to him the entire time.
It's a smartwatch with fitness functions. Battery will probably be shit which is the main concern. Also you need an iphone
I'd rather get a running watch in smartphone functions than viceversa

I watched the presentation and was intrigued by the iWatch. Besides the colors and wristband, what exactly was different about the Nike+ version?
Did it just have a better interface for running and/or other sport activities? I am assuming the Nike version does everything the regular iWatch does.
I use a Fitbit now and would like to replace it someday with the iWatch.

Wow how times have changed.... GPS was supposed to be hobby jogger back in XC. Timex or a stop watch was for real runners.

The Nike+ is just Nike Branding: band colors and design as far as I can tell.
https://www.apple.com/apple-watch-nike/All of the special named version of the Apple Watch are similar design branding. Otherwise, the Nike+ app will work on any watch but can only take advantage of built in features, like GPS, heart rate, etc.
