What's it like warming up and checking in for an Olympic race? Is there much waiting around that inhibits a typical warm-up, etc.? Must a runner present his shoes for inspection? I would love to hear from some Olympic runners.

It's glorious!
I'm not an olympian so can't speak to it. But at us nationals, they do make you go out a bit sooner than you might like if you are used to more casual meets.
You don't typically have your shoes checked at nationals.
Until an olympian arrives here to explain otherwise, it is probably safe to assume that the olympics are run similarly to us nationals.
What are shoes checked for? Spike length or are there other things?

For electric motors.
I was wondering this too, especially for the final.
Call times are generally 40-60 minutes before your race starts. It is crazy long. Then you sit and wait. Maybe have room to do short strides.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
