Anyone know who they were? They were frequently better than NBC's regular team. One of them was apparently a former javelin guy, but I never heard them identify themselves.

I remember some Australian's covering some of the Rio T&F on the live stream for NBC as well; they were excellent.

That was who I had in mind. It was 2 guys from Australia or with similar accents.
I thought one sounded like an Aussie and the other may have been a Brit.
Sounded like an Aussie and two Englishmen.
Peter Donegan was the Aussie commentator, Rob Walker and John Trower the Brits. John Trower is the Javelin coach.

Tom Feuer was from the trials. He did not show up to the big show.
I have to say, I was so impressed by their coverage. I hate to even mention the NBC broadcast team in the same breath as the stream team (it should be called the dream team). Their depth of knowledge, straightforward speaking, and touch of personality made the Olympics a pleasure to watch with them. The lack of commercials didn't hurt either.
They were great and funny. The part about Hammer Throwers giving each other manly hugs had me howling.
Thanks for the info. Those guys obviously knew the sport well and omitted all of the superficial fluff that NBC had on its main broadcast.
Sometimes I had to laugh when Bolt was running and someone would say something like "and there's the Great Man himself." But overall they were very solid.
At the end of the last day, the announcer said "We hope you enjoyed the telecast. This is John Trower, John Anderson, and Rob Walker (I think). They were great.

LOL. You responded to a 5 year old thread!!
Agreed that the nbcolympics broadcast team was way better than the NBC TV broadcast team. I only watched the nbcolympics streaming coverage.
