Why does everyone feelthat it is necessary to correct poor grammar and spelling on this site? Are there really that many people with worthless english liberal arts degress? Is it that people realize they wasted lots of money on a useless education instead of learning about something worthwhile and now need to belittle others ot feel important? I'm just really curious why people care so much on an internet message board.

On a screen where all anyone sees is what you write, then I'd say it's pretty important. But only if you wish to be taken seriously.
I agree. If you want to be taken for an intelligent person who has something to say that is worth listening to, it is very important. This is the means by which we communicate. The least we can do is spell correctly and supply proper punctuation. I find that when a post is littered with errors, I lose sight of what the post is actually saying, and look for more errors. It is very distracting, at least for me.

Last time I checked, "and" was in fact a conjunction. You also need to capitalize the first words of sentences (there's nothing "cutesy" or "avant-garde" about the no-caps stance) and place punctuation elements within quotation marks. Adding two spaces rather than one after periods is also suspect. These, however, are trivial issues in comparison to the horrific ineptitude of most who post here.
I used to think runners were generally smart (and atractive). Now, after lurking here for a few years, I realize they're generally as stupid (and repulsive) as mainstream folk.

Grammar is important because it governs language, which is the vehicle through which we communicate and think. If you don't know grammar then you don't know how to use language in a precise manner, which means that you cannot express your thoughts clearly. Sloppy language makes sloppy thought possible.

Exactly! Points, its like that, maybe y'know id be lucky to understand if the points were not in order too good and me listening wasn't the same as you talking plus the harder to listen the less talking your doing to me cause I can't dig it all.
