The race was at Shawnee Mission Park in the Kansas City suburb of Lenexa, Kansas. Been looking for the results from those two years without any luck.
Anybody have them?

1980
Tim Hacker won it in 14:47
John Easker 2nd in 14:54
Scott Jenkins 5th in 15:02
Rob Aubey 6th in about 15:05
WI sent three girls - Stacy Bant, Ellen Olson and Cathy Branta (Easker)
1981
Keith Hanson would have placed top 3. We sent two girls as well, Karen Harris and Greta Bielke.
My advice is to narrow down newspaper archive searches using the winning names. You will probably have to piece together results from multiple sources.
I have the 1980 MW results for the national qualifiers (top 7 that year). That help or looking for deeper?
1981 says
Boys
1) Ken Waterhouse
2) Marty Bassett
3) 3rd Indiana kid
4) Keith "Hammer" Hanson
5) Jim Knudsen
6-7) Steve Spillar
By the way Knudsen's kid is animal ran 4:08 this Spring, if he stays healthy lookout everyone!

Thanks, guys. I was hoping for the top 25 or so. I could've sworn I had them, but I can't find them anywhere.
BTW Knudsen was a college teammate of mine and still a great friend. My daughter and his son were at the same meet where Soren ran that 4:08 1600. I filmed his kid, he filmed mine.
Knudson from Lockport?

Yes, the dad, that is.
This is kinda becoming a quest of mine, and I may have a new angle. Does anyone have the media guide for Kinney Nats those two years ('80 & '81)? I've found scans/pics of old media guides for some prior years online and they usually contain at least the top-10 from the Regions.
Zat,
I have the Top 10 for '80 and '81, both held at Shawnee Mission:
1980
Tim Hacker WI 14:39.00
John Easker WI 14:51.00
Mark Smith MI 14:53.00
Mike Patton IL 15:00.00
Scott Jenkins WI 15:04.00
Rob Aubrey WI 15:18.00
Thomas Wikes SD 15:19.00
Jim Heardy MO 15:22.00
Eric Stuber MI 15:28.00
Jeff Pigg MO 15:30.00
1981
Ken Waterhouse IN 15:08.40
Marty Bassett IN 15:08.80
Keith Hanson WI 15:09.70
Jeff Grove IN 15:16.30
Jim Knudsen IL 15:17.00
Kevin Thatcher OK 15:19.20
Steve Spillar KS 15:24.10
Chris Zinn MO 15:24.50
Robbie Hipwood NM ???
Mike Regan KS 15:36.10
You had some odd stuff in the early years of Kinney with runners crossing regional borders (case in point is Hipwood from New Mexico and I'm aware of some other things like that in the Northeast with Ohio runners qualifying).
Hope all is well with you...I miss the old Dyestat days.

Zat and I still post on tracktalk.net
Yup---we had a very solid group in the '00s and even into the early teens
Dyestat archives are hard to find.

@Kalaby
Do you have 1979 and 1982 as well?

Kalaby or Sully usually can deliver on things like that.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
