We're thinking of doing a few podcasts (maybe with video as well) from the Trials.
Spending a little time researching this, I could use some help on what equipment to buy. In the pasts for our podcasts we just do them on the phone and the audio is pretty bad. (I see now we could make the audio a lot better if we all recorded our own audio and synced it but that is a different dicussion).
This will be the first time we've tried them with everyone in the same location. (However we did do video shows from the 2008 Trials so I know you need a mixer. Mixer recommendations appreciated
Budget: Low. We're trying to improve on Skype podcasts!
1) Should we use 4 mics or 1? I'm worried about the mics picking up one one another.
Mic recs appreciated. I could also see these shows being done outside if this makes a difference or at a bar.
2) We want to occasionally put audio/video from the internet or laptop (say a post-race interview) on the podcast. Can a USB mixer work both directions? I'm not sure how to do this?
Love to get mixer recs.
3) If we want to make the entire thing video (I assume we'll start with 1 camera) what else do we need. HD video cameras are super cheat, we need an encoder to hook up USB3 with computer and what else?
4) How do the hosts hear the external audio (say an interview we play or something like that)? If their mics don't pick up external noise they could just listen from a joint laptop but is doing headsets with mics and the audio being sent to them from the miser complex to do?
Thanks in advance. Email me if easier
