I think you should first build a good healthy base of tempos and/or fartleks, strides, hill sprints, and mileage. You should also get in some strength stuff and do stuff like core and hurdle drills (also helps with hip mobility). Once you hit winter, you can also add in some speed work to replace or supplement hill sprints or strides. Then, in the spring, hammer those speed sprinting sessions. Have fun!
I'd agree with that except I don't think mileage is that relevant for an 800, plus you need to focus on the background top speed work in base to make you be able to drop your 100 time. The way sprinters do.
