My college career has officially come to a close, frankly my body is pretty beaten up and I could stand to probably not take any anti inflammatories for quite a while. I was a sprinter/jumper but I'd like to transition to distance running. Any advice as to how to slowly build a base while also allowing my body time to recover? I'm wary of taking too much time off as I respond well to having a routine and fear that two weeks off could turn to months and I will all of a sudden become one of the many former athletes with a pouch. But, I also know that jumping into too much mileage would probably lead to injury as well.
