She looked great, great, great in Shanghai today, setting a mew WL. Her kick was explosive. Can she challenge Genzebe?

For the first time, Jenny Simpson looked "old."
Very impressed with Hellen Obiri's return after childbirth.
That was a national, Kenyan, record for her, but ain't faster than Shannon's AR....
The only distance record where the U.S. record is faster than the Kenyan.

Yes, Obiri the clean *outdoor* WR holder in the 3K. And that was right before her pregnancy. Interesting to see what she will bring. She closed very fast.
(*Obiri has the fastest outdoor, non-Ma Junren, 3K, but Genzebe's indoor 3K WR is 4 seconds faster)
As for Simpson, yes, sadly she looked bad. I have high hopes for Rowbury though, she looked very good in Portland.
The question now is whether we will see Faith Kipyegon in Genzebe's two WR attempt races in Scandinavia next month (and Hassan and Rowbury also). I'm also curious who the rabbit will be. Will she use Chanelle Price again? If you're Genzebe why would you even ask anyone else?
I gotta tell you, Faith was FLYING today. If she is in those races it will make it VERY interesting.

Jenny looked tired/stuck in the sand. I bet Wetmore has her volume high, so she's not peaking now/too early.

True, but we got lots of excellent young runners like Donovan Brazier, Grant Fisher, D. Hunter, Slagowski, Efraimson, Cain etc. so there is a good chance that will change.

The way Kipyegon looked today I think that little statement is on borrowed time. Faith is easily in 3:54 form and maybe 3:52.

I thinks so too. She said after the race that she wasn't WA Ching the time so she was running well within herself.
How do you think she will do against Genzebe?
"Kick"-ye-gone!!!

Haha! Good one!

They're going to run the women's 15 for Kenya?
Makes no sense wrote:

Actually if you'd read the comment in context, it made sense just fine, but it was still stupid.
There's no way that one of these current American prep phenoms ever runs 1:40.9/3:26/12:39/26:27

Me too.
Very impressed by Helen Obiri. She came flying in the final stretch and passed the two young Ethiopians who've been very good.
Ethiopia has another teenager in the 1500.
Even without Dibaba, the Ethiopian trio is a great force.
I believe Obiri will be in shape for a medal in three months. She will definitely be on the team.
FAith Kipyegon is a prospect for gold.
Dibaba will take it out fast like her life depends on it...........because her life (chance for gold) will depend on it and Kipyegon will match her step by step. She is in unbelievable shape.
1500m women has just got more interesting.
Jenny should move back to her old college standby, the steeple. All her 1500m success has been predicated on her strength, not speed.
The metric mile should be a marquee event, but hasn't been over the decades because for some reason it has always lacked big name talent. Genzebe clearly has changed that and now hopefully Faith will join her as another star.
One thing I always thought they should do with the event is change it to the Mile for the Olympics. It's not really that big of a difference in distance, but Mile has a more majestic stature, just like Marathon. It just rolls off the tongue a lot better.
Saying she's a "miler" or "mile queen" is a lot more interesting than saying she's a fifteen hundreder .
Jenny is an absolute super star! Greatest American miler in US history. World Champion!!!
The next Jenny Simpson:
1. Alexa Efraimson
2. Ajee Wilson
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
