Sowinski punks Symmonds by 1+ seconds. WTF?

I'm guessing you didn't actually see it or it might make sense.

Please check out the homepage. We've recapped the race in great detail here:
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2016/05/diamond-league-debacle-david-rudisha-beaten-four-men-nick-symmonds-runs-148-farce-800-shanghai/
The starter started the race when Rudisha wasn't ready for the start. There were HJers on the track so they asked for the starter to pull everyone up. He did but then fired off the gun.
Symmonds wasn't impacted by it, but I timed it and Rudisha didn't start running all out for 3 seconds. See for yourself. -
Regardless of the starter problems, symmonds looked BAD. Need got 8 weeks to be ready.
-
Symmonds always starts out slow then gets it together by nationals. Can't make any pronouncements until then. Rudisha had a bad start. People should learn to enjoy the sport and not get riled up by early season races. The Shanghai race is meaningless other than an early season rust-buster.

In years past nick could get away with that style because he was the most consistent. Now he has better, faster and more experienced competition.
Why do all the way to Shanghai in May as a rust Buster? I think Nick has been distracted by all his business and sellimg out rage. It was more than just the time. He didn't even look competitive. -
Notice how quick Som was to sum up the situation and cut directly from lane 8 in to lane 1 to try and make up some lost ground quickly. Guess you're not going to DQ the rabbit for cuttin in early :)
-
Tape over a temporary tatoo kind of sums up Nick's career at the moment.
-
The tape will spark conversation about T-Mobile sponsorship
Seeing the tape is as good as seeing the logo.in thgis case. Well spent 22 grand. -

He was there to do a job. A guy has to eat. -
Why do all the way to Shanghai in May as a rust Buster?
Because Symmonds is a name runner internationally. Anyone running 1:42 in an Olympic final will be a draw in China with the right promotion. The fact he is kind of a different, colorful character can also help draw in that market (the outlandish Chinese high jumper is a big draw in his homeland). Jos Hermans knows how to promote a meet and he figured bringing Symmonds in was good for business. It is a big world, way bigger than message boards in the US. The Chinese meet attendees can now talk about and remember the strange looking American with black tape on his arms, who waddles like a duck. Quite entertaining when you think about it. The Chinese could care less about his lawsuit against USATF, they don't even know about it. -
look like it was a lovefest
