3:17 is a great 4x400m time for a midwestern high school teambut won't stack up against the big boys

3:17 would be in the top 40 for this year; the average time on that relay would be 49.2 which is very fast. Most big schools in my area run around 3:35.

Well, since according to MileSplit, the best time in the nation right now is 3:11 high I guess there are no good HS 4 x 400 teams right now. I also guess you were being sarcastic.
3:17 is an excellent time. Not saying you'll be the fastest in every meet but there won't be many teams beating you if you can run 3:17.
