I've been running in Saucony Virrata 2's for the best part of the last year after purchasing them on advice here. Unfortunately, they are out of production and getting hard to find. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good replacement.
For those unfamiliar with the Virrata, I suppose I'm looking for either a lightweight trainer or a tough racing flat: a neutral, light, flexible, zero drop shoe with more cushioning than your typical minimalist shoe. Except for a very few workouts in spikes, I expect to do all my training in these shoes so if they are flats, they'd have be able to hold up to a lot of miles.
There is an active was just a thread on racing flats (http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7005926) but all the suggestions have more of a heel-toe drop than I'd like--I no longer find anything more much more than a 5mm drop comfortable. Anyone have any suggestions?
