I find your point / logic a bit odd given your religious beliefs and how devout you seem based on your posts. Isn't faith in Jesus Christ and God the central tenant of Christianity? To equate something so important to the changing of a traffic light seems like an insult to the concept of religious faith, no?
Great question. I do not think it cheapens the concept of faith at all. In fact, faith is a central part of our makeup as humans; as much as having 2 legs and 10 fingers. Our legs, fingers, and faith are all gifts from God.
We can choose to use our gifts in a way that glorifies God (faith in Christ, or using our legs to run in a race), and we can choose to use them in a way that does not (faith in our own intellect so that we think we do not need God, or using our legs to run from the scene of a crime).
