Putin likes MIGs.
Putin likes MIGs.
Russia doesn't have hundreds of MIGs.
Currently the Russian Air Force operates a total of 61 air bases. This includes 26 air bases with tactical aircraft, of which 14 are equipped with fighter aircraft.
In 2012, the Air Force was made up of:
-- 38 fighter squadrons (7 operating MiG-29s, one operating the MiG-29S, 2 operating the MiG-29SMT, 7 operating the MiG-31, one operating the MiG-31B, 4 operating the MiG-31BM, 7 operating the Su-27P, 8 operating the Su-27SM, 1 operating the Su-27SM3 and Su-30M2, 1 operating the Su-35S, 1 operating the Su-30SM)
-- 15 bomber squadrons (9 operating the Su-24M, 2 operating the Su-24M2, 4 operating the Su-34)
-- 14 assault squadrons (10 operating the Su-25, 4 operating the Su-25SM)
-- 9 intelligence squadrons (operating the Su-24MR, and various UAVs)
-- 13 training and testbed squadrons

Idiot, you forgot the thousands of Mig-29k's and Su-33's stationed on the supercarrier Admiral Kuznetsov.
Now don't go talking smart about numbers when you didn't even know Russia had a navy!

Supercarrier Admiral Kuznetsov - Air wing
In the original project specifications, the ship should be able to carry up to 33 fixed-wing aircraft and 12 helicopters .

Which kinda makes Bad Wiggins look like a moron.
What a surprise!
A squadron (team) is a group of 12-24 aircraft, "depending" on country, service and mission. The Soviets were known to field 6 for MIG squadrons. So the number of MIGS could be anywhere from 22x6 = 132, or up to 22 x 24 = 528. 6 units are operating squadrons. Those are ready-to-go combat teams. There are probably 4 times as many aircraft in reserve.
The Russians are also a producer of aircraft for friendly countries. So yes there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of MIGs, on ground ready for use.

the Turks allegedly defended their turf and embarrassed the Russians
that spiced the week up for sure
just under a year to the election, hope we make it
Russia has hundreds of MIGs and even more Sukhois. Even some Tupelovs!
What is most impressive is that they actually managed to use their old Backfire bombers (as well as Bears and others) to do a long range bombing run on Syria after their airliner was shot down over Egypt. They haven't projected that kind of airpower since the 1980s.
our us militants won't fight either. so we also resort only to chairmen.

My estimates were pretty close. 291 MIG-29. 134 MIG-31 with 125 in reserve.
How is wikipedia supposed to have accurate information on one of the most powerful militaries in the world?

Snowden. He needs the money.
It's not Putin, MIGs, Daesh, Assad, Iran, Hezbollah, Muslims in Belgium, nor Erdogan that has Washington freaking out. It's #BDS that is rapidly eroding the infrastructure of the Crusader-Xioni$t empire occupying Arab and Caucasian lands.
