Granted, I am neither Catholic nor of any religious persuasion, but I still can't figure out why everyone is making such a fuss about Pope Frankie visiting the United States.
I mean, the guy isn't a saint. He wasn't appointed to his position by God or any other deity. The Pope is essentially nothing more than an elected official who presides over one of the world's largest businesses (one subsidiary of which, the Vatican Bank, is among the most corrupt). Do other countries go bananas when Bill Gates visits? The POTUS traveling abroad usually gets some headlines, but no one really cares.
I don't get it....
