Interesting. I'm not saying I agree with that, but I think I know what you're saying.
Education = liberal
Lack of Education = conservative.
Did I get it right?
An MSW is an outright indoctrination of liberal self-loathing cloaked in the prestige of a master's degree.
Unfortunately, masters degrees have become significantly less valuable than in the past. When everyone gets everything we're left with nothing.
More and more it is going to become about your skills and less about an overpriced piece of paper that you hang on the wall (not including sciences) unless you go to a top tier school...
So who's really making the educated decision? The MS holder with a boatload of debt and an entry level position or the proven-skilled 'uneducated' kid with a measly bachelors and an extra two years of real experience?

Uh no. There are liberal majors and conservative majors.
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=6410564Conservatives tend towards the science/facts/calculations and liberals are drawn to the "everyone's opinion is a winner" ones.
And I'm sick and tired of you idiots. FU!

So you are saying an MSW overtly indoctrinates people to hate themselves.
This is a pretty radical statement. Are you sure of this.
How do you know this? Any evidence or are you just spouting off.

My sister studies SW and she can't stop railing about how privileged we are and how guilty we need to feel.

You seem to be equating the "overpriced piece of paper" with earning potential, which is a fair assumption. Unfortunately, it's misguided. Bettering oneself through education is grounded in a quest for personal growth, not earning potential. That seems to be the difference between liberals and conservatives.

die fukker die
Why didn't liberals brainwash BA students like George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Donald Rumsfeld and Bill O'Reilly?

This can't be emphasized enough. I've dated, worked with the fathers of, and am friends with several social workers. Super friendly people(!) but ridiculously misguided and loathing of the society that has given them so much. Economically oblivious as well.

It's an overpriced personal growth experience then. Think about this. Some people pay $30k/year extra to go out of state. Is the personal growth experience $120k+ better in the state next door? Is the earning potential $120k+ higher when 98% of jobs don't care where you went to college ESPECIALLY once you're past entry level?
Imagine, you could spend a year traveling the world, starting a failed business out of pocket, volunteering for your favorite nonprofit, etc... and it would be cheaper than a year of out-of-state/private college tuition for many people. Is college still the most cost effective personal growth experience?
It could be, but I doubt high school seniors are really thinking it through.
YEAH!!!
Damn those social workers who work with abused women, children and families. Those losers who support children with mental/learning disorders. Those jokers who work with the elderly who have no one else. Those brainwashed schmucks who allow foster children to live a somewhat normal life. And screw those social workers for helping the poor!
Seriously, who needs them?!
It's not overpriced at all. As a liberal, I can say that I and most other liberals my age come from very wealthy families. We can afford to waste time. Do you really think liberals are taking out 120K dollar loans?? Our families pay for it. I went to a 45k dollar a year private school, a 35k dollar year master's institution, and a 40k dollar a year PhD institution, and did not pay one penny. Even if one's parents don't pay, any decent grad programs will PAY YOU to attend.
Stupid people celebrating their intentional ignorance... an lrc classic.
A quick bump for the Friday folks.
Oh Yeah?!?!?! Would you be talking so tough if I was in front of you?? I'm not scared of you and your tough guy talk, I won't walk away. I am here all day and don't plan on leaving.

Wouldn't you need to actually HAVE an education before you could talk on this topic with any real authority?

I've been working in a math/science field for almost 30 years. In my job I probably see an equal number of conservatives, liberals, and people who just don't care.
For the record, I come from a hard core, highly-regarded, scientific research institute. I'm one of the liberals and I'm not into "everyone's a winner", but I do think everyone deserves an opportunity.
