Just posting comments from last week now. I will post my week after I get in my workout this morning.
hantph96 - Well balanced week. I like the 2k session.
back into it - Not sure how you managed that 4x5k workout in 75F dewpoint conditions! What was your hydration/cooling strategy? I really dig the fartlek/tempo combo - may have to steal that some time. :)
Niceguy542007 - Solid week despite the brief illness. Looks like you handled the 20 miler well. In addition to staying sharp over the next couple weeks, I would try getting some extra sleep whenever you can to help avoid any last minute bugs.
Runningagain - From perusing your other thread, I am glad to see your first tempo turned out well.
Forcerunner - Jumping in a HM and running at or just a bit faster than MP really lets you practice that sense of "holding back," which is so important for first-time marathoners. Great job, and way to have the discipline to let your club mate go.
slo-twitch - Two really good long workouts for you. The 10mi alterations tempo is a serious workout and you nailed it.
Runnersfix - Yet another steady week for you. So consistent with the daily mileage. I have to chuckle that you complete your 2ks in the time it takes me to complete my HM pace miles, haha. I guess I can say I am 80% as fast as your are. Stay safe with the weather coming your way tonight and over the next few days. Hopefully the storm will bring a drop in temperatures after it.
jwil - Holy half marathon PR, Batman! What a great race for you. That's a superb time. I don't know much about the marathon course you will be running, but you are certainly in the ballpark of a sub 3 hour attempt. Maybe go out at 7:00/mi pace the first 4-5 miles and go from there? Depends on how conservative or aggressive you want to be. I remember when you first started posting again that you weren't even sure of breaking 3:10 this fall. So if I offered you a guaranteed 3:03 then, I bet you would have taken it. Just something to think about.
IllinoisRunner - Wow, those were some blazing XC 1ks. That's about the pace I do my 1000m repeats on the track, and I am currently a low 17s guy (with a post-30 years old PR of 16:53 last year). Keep up the great work, like I said before, as long as you stay healthy you have a tremendous future in front of you.
BdotAdot5 - Nice first week of practice for you. Always fun on those days where your legs feel that pop.
SummerRunning - Wow, you are like clockwork with that training. Such great discipline. I am sure your coach is thrilled with your current fitness.
OklahomaGuy - Hope you do well at your 2mi race today.
lest - Great 5000m time! Never fun when you have to do all of the work, but just think of how much easier it will feel at bigger races when you have somebody to pull you along.
Matthias - Another sterling race showing for you and a high quality fartlek. You look to be in great shape going into your 10k.
Oedipus Rexing - I absent-mindedly cut strides out of my schedule for a couple weeks and I definitely noticed the difference after the fact. Now that they are back in the routine, I am feeling more pop then I did before.
HD188753 - A good strength building week for you. You don't always need ball-busting workouts to reap benefits.
TannerD22 - Really strong tempo for you. Hope you are feeling better after the bit of allergy sickness you had.
Hereford - I have been missing you, man! Nice consistent week. I know you have your break coming up soon, but if you can instill daily habits now, it will help you pick it up that much easier after the break.
KBXC - Like I said to HD188753, sometimes those boring but consistent weeks are the best medicine for you.
reed - Good to hear from you! We need more regulars like you and Hereford back on the scene.
ThatAverageRunner - Good first week back to school for you.
