And the conclusion of the article?
"Whether those achievements are believable or not is another question altogether, and one that can’t be answered by looking at the numbers."
Looks like you don't understand the meaning of "scientific", or "impossible".

But does he understand the meaning of "of"?
Interesting that Asafa Powell and Gatlin's charts look very similar from age 29-33.
The bigger question is why is Bolt getting so slow, so fast...

tiny sample size and in any case Gatlin would have been expected to improve after the suspension from the time he was just getting back in to the next year and two years. Do I believe in Gatlin? No, no, no. And in any case he has very significant advantages from the doping years.

Wait for the next year. He will be again in sub 9.7 form.
In what fantasy world is anything Gatlin has done within the realm of natural human performance??

If you're out multiple years, you will absolutely improve the first couple years back.
I like Gatlin, and hope he breaks all the records.
Every former drug cheat will tell you they were able to get back to a higher level then before using even when clean.
Muscle memory and KNOWING you've already broken a barrier are huge advantages.
Look at A-ROD. 19 HR (9th), .277 BA, 52 RBI. Not too shabby for a clean, washed up 39 year old.
BTW Barry Bonds could STILL do better.
I like th idea that somebody put up the other week that "hwat if he doped throughout his suspension?"
Are you doping now Gatlin? :"No" (TRUE)
Damn right. Nothing aint not impossible for the Just. Lightning bolts can be explained but science can't touch this guy, Justin the just Gatlin.
Don't you guys Just Gat it already?
One thing is that many of you aren't reading the graph correctly. It shows Gatlin being much slower WHEN HE CAME BACK FROM SUSPENSION and then improving from that point. That is what I am saying is feasible. I am not saying that we should believe the lifetime pr's that came later, and at his age.

"His age" is not a factor. He's not old.
While I agree that Gatlin and every other sprinter is doped, the author of that article is an obvious moron. It's hard to take him seriously when he tries to act like Serena Williams is clean.
Given the criteria for his argument, why not go after Kim Collins as he setting personal bests in his late 30's. I assume it's because he doesn't dislike Collins like he does Gatlin. Why not put Collins in that graph to show his improvement?
At this point the only way to enjoy professional sports is to just accept that fact that everyone is doped and just watch for entertainment value. Running around acting like some guys are doped and some aren't makes you look like an idiot.
Actually, it's scientifically possible.
Drugs + Biology = Science
Gatlin running so fast = Possible
