Those steeple girls are so hot.
I've done searches for steeple mishaps, but have never seen anyone completely submerge, let alone at Nationals! Sheer awesomeness!!!
It was with some excitement that I clicked on the photo, but then I realized that the post hadn't said "Nicole's Bush mishap"
I'd like to see a few closeups of that dive.

That pic makes the water look pretty deep. You can only see Nicole's hand above the water.
I've met Nicole and this fall could not have made me happier. I'm having this framed.

Haha, my thought exactly. I've never run a steeple, how deep exactly is the water at the base of the pool?
Water only 3 feet there. Does anyone know how/why they advanced Bush to the final?

No way they advanced her. Those picture show nobody touched her!
Her agent protested that she was impeded by the woman behind her (Shalaya Kipp) from getting up in a quick manner. They let her in the final. I have no idea how that could be ruled. Seems like often the best strategy in a prelim is to fall and protest. Works almost every time.

That's pretty unfair to the other girls to be honest. Shalaya only fell because Bush ate it on the barrier. Entirely Bush's fault. Shalaya fell and finished in 9:50 and qualified, Bush finished in 10:17, it's a joke.
It was a hawt day for hotties. She need to cool off. That is all.

But it must have felt really terrible to fail like that in front of so many people. Surely she deserved to be a winner too.
FYI: In the 2009 USATF Meet while still running for Michigan State she fell over the water jump and broke her foot when the officials mistakingly had the barrier at a higher height than what the women run. She did not sue them, but the USATF profusely apologized and admitted their mistake settled with her and leaned over backwards for her as much as they could.
Two women down in the pool? Did the following runners leap over them?

YES, YES!

This is the beginnings of a slippery slope. Get a good well-connected agent.....who is also good friends with John Chaplin.
Can't the other girls in the final file their own protest over Bush's inclusion?

Kipp's face is fantastic in this photo. I think she chucked Bush over, Royal Rumble style.
The other ladies absolutely should consider protesting if that's an option. Falling in the steeple is an inherent risk of the event The last time qualifier was 10:03 and Bush ran 10:17. She wasn't even in the same ballpark and the runner who "impeded her from getting up" finished in 9:50. It's not like Shalaya hung around in the water pit holding Bush under.
It's time for USATF to stop giving Bush special treatment since she broke her foot many years ago when the barriers were set too high. I hope she doesn't make the team and is a non-factor.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
