I ran an 800m in a championship recently. First lap was 59.8 and then I closed in 54.8 for a 1:54.6. (Splits are for me not just the pack of runners)
What do you think I could run in a more even paced race (faster first lap)?
Cheers

Thanks, anyone else?
I was just wondering what type of training you do on a daily basis and outline a usual week for you if that is possible. Since you are quite fast in the 800m. Thanks.
1:51.0
I had a race with those exact splits. That year I was at 1:51. I was a strength runner with very little turnover speed. With that type of second lap, your best event might be the 1500.
Good luck
Thanks I hope I can run something like that this year!
I am decently fast over the 400m, have run 51.5 (not a relay split) without blocks this year.
For the poster asking bout my weekly schedule...
Obviously we are entering summer now so my schedule is vastly different to winter. This plan assumes you have done decent winter work.
Monday: 45 mins run/cycle + weights or circuits
Tuesday: session of fast 200s/300s or rarely 400s short recovery (30s-60s)
Wednesday: 45 mins run/cycle + weights or circuits
Thursday: race pace reps as long as 400m, longer recovery (2-6mins) or a fartlek session longer and slower on grass (tend to alternate depends how I'm feeling)
Friday: 45 mins run/cycle + weights or circuits
Saturday: 10 x 20-30s hill sprints with jog down recovery or speedier session of up to 8 x150m at 400m pace or faster (18/19s)
Sunday: rest, stretch, relax!
What was your 1500m pb around that time btw?
3:46
400m best in high school was 51
200m in training could do 24 high
In a race with slow first lap it will be the milers that will win every time. 400/800 types can not negative split 800 very well.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
