Brief history: 2013 I ran some slow-ass marathons and some slower-ass 50-milers on way too low mileage (topping out at maybe 35mpw). I've since run less and lifted more. Few months ago something happened to right knee. Eased off it and it hasn't improved. Eased off it more and not showing any sign of improving.
Doc made me get x-ray. Clean, duh. I wanted MRI but doc wouldn't give it to me (Canada!). Doc says patellofemoral and symptoms fit. I can actually run on it without it being too bad, but it acts up sitting down/getting up, stairs, even just sitting at a desk for awhile without standing and moving around, and that fits patellofemoral syndrome.
Doc says better arch support shoes, orthotics, etc. I find it hard to believe since I was running pretty minimal mileage and even less now. I am annoyed and frustrated that the rest I've been giving it isn't helping, and that makes me skeptical. Any thoughts/ideas would be really appreciated.
