Just because you have the ability to post here, doesn't mean you should .
You can't spell. You drug test. And you fought in Viet Nam.
Lol old people on the internet
Wake up, the OP is right. Drug test, including cannabis, is standard for pre-employment for professional employees (and contracts). It doesn't matter if it is legal in your state or not. If you don't get this, you may be unemployed for a looooooooong time.
"millennials"
Why would I want to work for a person who thinks they can stick their fat nose into my personal business? I've got a better job than you could ever offer me and I get stoned every night.
your a mean old man
Made $65,000 starting at my first job after college. Didn't take a drug test.

Nothing to be proud of.
Why just millennials? The Vietnam generation popularized weed. Why do they get a free pass?
Because it's easy to take the piss out of young people

Just because you own a business doesn't mean you could ever hire me.
Thank you for your service.

Did anyone claim otherwise? Seems like you're arguing against a point that no one made.
" And you fought in Viet Nam."
- A complete sentence should never begin with a conjunction, smart guy. Check your own work prior to bagging on someone in the future.

Something tells me he might be able to offer a better job than head baker at Dunkin donuts, but you keep on getting stoned everynight. It makes you super cool.

Easy there Chong, don't be flaunting alllll that cash around us. I can't even dream of making that much! How did you get such a LUCRATIVE position without a drug test?

One group us old and wise, and the other is young and in need of the OPs advice because they feel entitled to both a decent job and a stoner's life. The old guys have watched their stoners get no where in life and have learned from their experiences. You can't experience hedonism and success.

I'm sure someone has claimed otherwise, but I think the general public expects that drug testing will stay the same.
I'm not so sure that it will stay that way though. Employers generally aren't allowed to fire employees for engaging in lawful activities outside of work. For example, you can get hammered Friday night, but as long as you show up on Monday good to go, you're fine.
My company has contracts with Exelon to work at a few of their nuclear power plants and with the US Air Force. We perform critical safety functions for both. We're drug and alcohol tested by both and can randomly be drug tested or breathalyzed. An employee of mine, who is also a friend, has prescriptions for some medications that can have side effects worse than marijuana. He hits positive for the controlled substances, the MRO calls his doctor, the doctor confirms that he has a prescription, and all Exelon or the Air Force see is that he passed the drug test with no issues.
Alcohol is a different issue. If you show up drunk, you're out of luck.
The only big different between alcohol and marijuana is that there is a test for alcohol that can indicate whether or not you're impaired at the time. If such a test were ever developed for marijuana, then you would not be able to fire an employee for using it legally.
