ROAD RACE MANAGEMENT UNVEILS ONLINE LIST OF CONVICTED RUNNING DRUG CHEATS
Road Race Management has created the first listing of both current and past road running and track and field athletes convicted of drug testing offenses. The comprehensive online section on the RRM website (www.rrm.com) contains separate lists of those currently serving suspensions (or who have announced their retirement from the sport) and a list of those who have completed suspensions and are actively competing again.
According to Road Race Management President Phil Stewart, "With several high profile suspensions in the last 24 months, there is intense interest in up-to-date information about current and past drug cheats. The historical list is the only place for race directors to identify previously banned runners if they have a policy of not inviting athletes to their events who have served a drug test ban in the past but are currently eligible."
The list contains details on over 300 currently or formerly suspended athletes. It will be updated with new suspensions as they are announced by the IAAF or National Federations. When an athlete completes a suspension, he or she will be automatically reclassified as a past offender. The listings include athlete name, nationality, date of infraction, type of offense, start and ending date of the ban, a graph showing how much of the ban has been served, and notes regarding the specifics of the ban.
The list can be sorted by date to see all athletes suspended on any date or by athlete name. In addition, users can check the status of multiple athletes with a single search by copying and pasting their entire elite athlete list into the search box.
The new online tool is in a special section of the RRM Online Resources section of the RRM website, which also includes the Online Guide to Prize Money Races and Elite Athletes. The Online Guide is a free resource that lists over 1,000 athlete bios and contacts and details on over 600 prize money races. Race directors and industry officials can support this important free initiative through advertising on the site. Advertising details are available at
