Hi, I am a 10th grader who is not running track this year because I recently moved to a new school with no sports. However, I will be changing schools again next year with an xc/track team. Now, I am only doing base work (some tempos and strides included) all through track season to prepare for xc season my junior year, as I plan on getting my mileage up from 40 to 80 mph. Should I do hard speedwork here and there, or should I only concentrate on increasing volume to maximize results for the next xc season? Do you think my plan is advisable? Any advice is appreciated.
