I am 34 yo male, slow, aiming for 3:10 marathon but not sure of the exact race yet. Base mileage is 45/wk for past two months. Current PR is 3:30 a few months ago. I have two types of training weeks that I want to alternate, and basically, when I think I'm in range for a 3:10, I'll pick the race and start a 2 week taper. Current 5K PR is 19:30.
Week 1
S - 6 rec
M - 6 easy
T - 10 speed (with 5x1 mile at 5k pace of 6:20, rec is 3 minutes)
W - Off
T - 9-12 tempo (with 4-7 miles at tempo pace of 6:50-7:00)
F - 6 easy
Sat - 15-20 long easy
Total 52 to 60 miles
Week 2
S - 6 rec
M - 6 easy
T - 10 strength (with 5x1,200 hills at 5k effort, recovery is 5 minutes, as there is a .75 mile hill at 3-5% grade near my house that I can run up and down)
W - off
T - 9-12 MP (with 7-9 at marathon pace of 7:15)
F - 5 easy
S - 14-18 with MP fast finish over last 5-6 miles
Total 51-57
I know it's different for everyone but if something is glaringly wrong I'd love to hear opinions, thanks.
