Maybe I've been deeply sheltered but I had no idea that the nondescript building in the neighborhood strip mall that I drive by everyday and that was advertised as a family spa for one and all was some kind of colony for nudists. I went there at the invitation of a Korean girl I've been going with since the holidays. Her family goes to the local Korean spa every month and she invited me to tag along with her mom, dad, brother and sister.
So we get there and the staff gives us these mandatory outfits to wear in what they call the common area that look like prison jump suits. Kinda weird - but you have these various heated rooms - charcoal and various gem stone rooms heated to different temperatures that get as high as 180 degrees that you go into for several minutes followed by a cool down in an ice room after you visit each room. I'll say it's very relaxing and great for post workout joint relief.
But this where it got odd. After we do that for about an hour and half or so they're like we are going to hit the bade pools now. So I'm like "there's a pool here you should have told me I would have brought my trunks". They're like - no swim trunks. No clothing is allowed in the bade pools that are separated by gender. I was like huh. So we go to the lockers, strip down and walk into the bade pool area which is best described as a gigantic bath house with various heated pools and a cold pool where everybody from 5 to 75, all sizes and races, is butt-naked. Wasn't prepared for that at all, not a prude at all but that was uncomfortable as hell though after a while the discomfort wore off.
Still I was shocked that in my stuffy little neighborhood people would go for that and thankful I didn't run into anybody I work with!
