What could I have run with more ideal splits?
What could I have run with more ideal splits?
Of the top of my head, I'd say something like 4:15.

up to 5s faster?

Wait ..... you ran almost perfectly even splits, then kicked in a sub 60 last lap?
Those are ideal splits for most people here this time of the year.
I'd like to know the last 4 100 splits on that last lap if you have them.
Let's put that 59 into Ventolin's prediction machine.
Oh my God, you'll be getting a call from AlSal.
1:39/3:24
depends on whether 64s or 65s would have felt comfortable for you. It seems like they would have. you'll run a lot faster this year. fine start.
I ran a 1500 race like that with a similar conversion time last year (4:05 1500). and finished the year at 3:52 (4:08/4:09 for 1600). I'd say on the same day I could've gone 3:56-3:57 with ideal pacing, which is a 4:13-4:14. The same likely goes for you.
These estimates are a bit generous. Five seconds faster is the max I would allow you. Probably more like 3 or 4.

obviously helluva lot quicker
maths won't give you an answer from flattening splits
it's a few tenths/1s off for even pace for only few laps
( i did the maths
it is never generous
lesson of life :
maths always hurts unless you listen to your teacher & learn hard work )
the answer can only come off your 400 / 800 ability that day & what your
"drop of"
was to 1600
( what you think you had that day )
lotta 4'20 guys with big kick
here are some end-points to
"perfect"
4'20 /1600
for 600 / 800 / 1k / 1500
off best possible current 400
54.00 ->
1'25.83
1'59.00
2'33.18
4'01.83
to
44.00 ->
1'15.21
1'49.00
2'24.70
4'00.08
those are mathematical parameters i keep being asked for a ( helluva lot )
"perfect"
4'20
( 1600m )
there are enough stats there

http://www.jundo.co.uk/Very nice. To run those splits and come back with a 59 last lap is pretty good, but I feel like that tells me you had more in the tank. I believe you started out a bit slow -- probably could have run somewhere in the ballpark of 4:17-4:19.
My thinking is, if you would have gone out in, let's say 64-65, that would have set you up perfectly:
1st lap: 64
2nd lap: 66 (let's say you settled into your pace here at this point) (800m = 2:10)
3rd lap: 67 (almost every miler's "slow" lap... so let's just assume...)
4th lap: 62 (800m = 2:09)
Total 1600m: 4:19
Of course, this could vary... you could even go 61, 63, 67, 65 and that would give you a 4:17... You positive split almost every lap, but you ran a little more aggressively from the start.
Depends on the type of runner you are. Just based off of the splits you ran your 4:21, you seemed conservative (at least for the examale you posted).
4:18 ~ maybe
you can run 67 mostly aerobically.
which means that probably you can go 6 laps at that pace.
so a pretty good 3000 m is possible - within reach.
anyway, without the cool math calcs, you can set up a finish at 65 seconds average lap and bring it in 63 ish. like 64-65-66-63.
what's that?
4:18 or even 4:16 is possible especially with drafting in the right race.
That was legit hilarious omg
