It's bad enough that cops are allowed to speed just to give a ticket to someone who's speeding.
So why is it that cops are always going 75-80 in a 65 when they aren't in pursuit? It just makes the speed LIMIT even more of a joke.

Doesn't bother me a bit. Did you know cops are not immune from speed cameras? If they get nailed, they pay oop unless they declared a code 3 prior to reaching the cam.
Also cops plodding along the interstate just causes slow traffic.

Pretty much everyone drives 75-80 in a 65.
Police officers on highways are often responding to something although it may not require lights and sirens. Same as ambulances. I do not have a problem with either type of vehicle speeding.
Also, as someone else mentioned; a slow(er) police car will bog down traffic because no one will pass them.
The cops that I see on the highway are never going less than 85 mph. usually 85-95 mph. I do 75-80 and they fly by me like I'm standing still.

Yes but I'm more disturbed by jerky lane changes, tail-gating, and not using turn signals moreso than speeding.
Everything cops do is bothersome

Cops put their lives on the line every day for you. You disgust me!
People get perks at their jobs.
Taco Bell workers get free tacos.
Cops can speed. I'm OK with that.
It's also a way to survey traffic in more than one spot.
If they stay with traffic they are only surveying that group.
Let them patrol, man.

They can also harass you for any reason they see fit
They can stop you whenever they want.
You are always guilty first then possibly after months or haggeling and time presumed innocent.
They can blow by red lights on way to shift changes down one way streets.
They can sleep in the fancy SUVs you and I have provided to them- in the local dark parking area were you can find 3 or 4 of them working hard on their naps.
They work for themselves not you-no matter that your paying their salaries "to serve and protect" .
They can arrest you for speeding, jst because their bored.
They can make up to 80-100 dollars an hour wrking detail for NSTAR or your local co. all the while being on their cell phones as cars and people wizz buy looking for any sort of traffic signal from them.
Oh yeah, btw your paying for all the hardware they carry and ride on, laptops, gas and so forth.
And lastly they dont serve you and barely protect you, unless it feeds their ego.
Go ahead try to report a cop for not doing his/her job see what happens next-oh by the way THEY WORK FOR YOU NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

What this guy said, at least the last part. If you go on one ride along and ask, you'll get your answer. What's the point of driving on the freeway for half an hour if you're around the same 5 cars the whole time. They're (supposed to be)good at driving at those speeds so they probably won't crash but it can be a hazard to those not expecting a car up their back bottom travelling that fast.
Cops speed because no one will pass them on the highway. If they go 75 in a 75, traffic stacks up next to and behind them for miles. Folks 10-20 cars back can't see why traffic is stacked up and start doing dumb things to try and get around it. Then they see it's a cop, slow down, and perpetuate the problem.
It's better for traffic flow for cops to speed, 10-15 mph above the limit.
It bothers me that everyone breaks the speed limit, usually while talking on a cell phone.
Speeding cops don't bother me too much because, as previously stated,
1) everyone breaks the speed limit
2) no one will pass a cop on the highway
When cops play with their laptops while driving, or blow through red lights in town...that really grinds my gears.
OK. There may be some negative things about cops.
But them speeding doesn't bother me just because I can't do it without fear of penalty. That's a crybaby thing my kids do when one get something and the other doesn't.
If they speed and in get accidents that would be bad.
But a car going fast without penalty does not bother me.
And I have gotten a lot of speeding tickets.
it is a little hypocritical I get what you are saying here...But the cop that almost hit me the other day while I was in a cross walk on my run, it was really makes me mad! (I had stopped before crossing the intersection and the other cars at their stop sign in the intersection waved me along) and this cop comes barreling through, running a stop sign, slams on his brakes when he sees me, and would not have stopped in time, I came to a dead stop, just in time. Then he looks over at me, waves like a "I'm sorry", I shook my head and kept going. Probably should have stopped and had a good conversation with him about looking for pedestrians in the cross walk, kind of like a drivers Ed 101...It was dark, but the street lights were bright and other "regular" drivers could see me and waved me along...Cops are just like regular people, some are worse drivers than others, and I think its just a lack of attention that gets me mad...Drivers, texting, talking on their phone, playing the radio, or just plain not "with the program" are the most dangerous ones on the road. They are the ones missing the fact that there is a car in their blind spot or a runner in the cross walk...
Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fresh donut light just came on.
My observation is that cops (when not in pursuit) drive at exactly the speed limit and obey traffic laws far more frequently than the general population.

Funny, but true story.
Several years ago I was on my way to a Saturday morning run. It was still dark out, very little traffic on the road. Out of nowhere I see a police car with it's lights on screaming up behind me. I was at a stoplight, so I just stayed there until he passed. Instead, he pulled into the left hand turn lane, did a U-turn. As I sat at the light, I kid you not, I watched him pull into a Krispy Kreme on the other side of the road and then he turned his lights off. Who knows? There could have been an emergency there and I didn't look to see if the "hot doughnuts" sign was on either.
