Trying to nail down a plan for Boston and I find myself unsure of how long to actually build into the race. I've used a Pfitz 18/85 a couple years ago and then a Pfitz 12/70 when I first qualified for Boston in 2013. For Boston I went with a custom 14 week build and while I had a decent day (3:02) I felt undertrained thanks to peaking around 40 mpw.
Background: Late to running, hobbyjogger. Spent most of 12 and 2013 around 60-80mpw then dropped to 30ish mpw for end of 2013 through early summer 2014 before ramping up to 80-100 mpw the last few months. Planning on peaking around 85-95 mpw for this build and hoping to go sub 2:50. No coach this time around so probably going with a slightly modified, canned plan like Pfitz again or JD.
