I recently got a good job offer in the bay area and my fiance also just found out recently that he did as well. We are both in our late 20s, some California exposure (but grew up in other parts of the country) and are planning to take it and move to the bay area.
Our total combined income should be around $250k, and I was looking for some suggestions over a good place to live for two young professionals (we plan to eventually have kids when things settle down a bit in a few years).
My job will be in Mountain View and his will be in Palo Alto, so relatively close to each other. However, would it be better to live in the city and commute? Or better to take a place further south? I know as far as school systems go, when that hurdle comes, it might be better to live further south because of the better schools but at this point, would it be more fun to live in SF? We also like running and the outdoors, but it seems like both would be good. We'd like to save as much as we can as well, and hopefully eventually buy a home one day in the area. Any suggestions on good, affordable places to look? Thanks!
