Is this cheating?
What does WHO think about it?
I don't put that garbage in my body.

NOt that I'm aware of. The caffeine content is within the allowable limits.
The gas and indigestion you would get from doing this would make it impossible to run. But if you were to ingest that amount of caffeine, it could help if you aren't a dedicated runner.
Whe I was captain of my XC team, one of the JV jokers (the ones who dont care AT ALL. It was a no-cut team) decided to try one of those 5 hour energy shots about 10 minutes before the race. Got a PR by over 3 minutes. Given, his time was still slow, but he was too hyped up to go his normal slog pace.
Why did your coach let one of the slow "JV jokers" be the the team captain?

Thanks, didn't realize that. Do you happen to know offhand when they eliminated the limits?
Nope. But 2013 WADA had caffeine on some kind of monitoring list without specifying or prohibiting it. Like they are keeping an eye on it and might ban it again if it tries anything.
If I take more than 150mg of caffeine it completely backfires anyhow. I don't believe it's a significant PED, more of a cheap substitute for a proper warmup.
Taurine and guanine are (or at least we're when I raced) on banned substance list. Not sure if the levels in red bull are high enough though.
It's anabolics, so yeah.
test
Ridiculous. I'm pretty sure taurine is not banned and it has no guanine anyway (if that is even banned). Caffeine was delisted 10 years ago.

It is caffeine basically and some sugar. No different than a coffee with sugar if you ask me (just worse for you).
5 hour energy drink helped me with an 8 o'clock half marathon. I was pounding miles that week, and sleeping tons. This meant I needed to wake by 5 for the 8 AM start, and I was not able to get to my place of sleep until 10, and didn't actually lay down until 10:30. 6.5 hours sleep is not enough, so I planned the night before to take the 5 hour energy as soon as I woke. Wow!
I talked non-stop, and ran a great pr. But, I did crash soon after the race.
That's enough reason for me to partake.
