I had an xc meet last Saturday, and I had my best race experience ever. I didn't do very well; I got 12th place, which is worse that I was expecting, but the race was incredible. Right out of the start another school formed a wall in front of me and a team mate. It was the most intentional wall I had ever seen, they were running very tight and blocking the entire trail. I called out that I was passing and tried to pass them on their left, but one of them reached back and pushed me further behind him. My team mate saw an opportunity, so he pushed me from behind and gave me a burst of speed that I used to fly past the guy who pushed me and get ahead of their wall. My team mate then passed them as well, and "accidentally" elbowed the guy who pushed me, and we both gained twenty seconds on them by the end of he next hill. Has anyone else had an experience like this in a race?
