Performance drops on the way?
How many of the items on the prohibited list have been scientifically proven to enhance performance?
The WADA rules include the possibility of health risks. Whether actual risks exist is not important these days. Sports must be purified.

Xenon seems like a more dangerous but much cheaper/easier alternative to an altitude tent. Doubt the serious groups will be affected.
An altitude tent could be used to feed the gases to a user.
Is Helium still OK? It's the noblest of all the noble gases.
Hi Alberto. What are your thoughts on Galen's 5000m times this year, in light of you setting a target of 12:45 a couple of years ago. Do you think the Boston indoor track is artificially boosting his shorter distance times, due to a trampoline effect? If so, that would lend credence to the idea that he is flat-lining on his 5000m time.Congrats on the fantastic results with Rowbury.

Congrats on the fantastic results with Rowbury.
I have always thought the Boston Indoor track was very fast, probably just as fast as an outdoor one, I'm not sure it makes a huge difference either way. I believe the real difference for Galen is that we were able to set up the race with pacers for him. He was able to stay in lane 1 most of the time running an even pace and I could yell out to him every 200 meters. We don't get this luxury outdoors, and much of the race is determined by other racers and lots of energy gets wasted getting into position.
Some will point out that Galen ran 12:58 in 2012 and only 13:00 this year. But we have always focused on competition before times, and in that sense he is still getting better every year. Since there is no indoor version of the Diamond League, this leaves us some time to chase records, especially with the kind folks in Boston who have been supportive of us. We still believe the 5,000m American Record is in our grasp but it may take a more dedicated effort, maybe even on home soil.
As long as they don't crack down on TUE's for xenon and argon gas. I may need it for exercise induced tachycardia.
Thanks for the reply.
Well, if you do set up a special 'all-comers' meet to go after the AR, I hope you're courteous enough to invite Ben True, so he can attempt the sub-13.
😃
10/10 because you actually got someone
For real though, how exactly are they going to test for this? Seems like this will be difficult to implement.
poor elfie rupp. all his favorite dope is banned. guess they'll have to add xenon and argon to his other 37 TUEs
Wait... I thought Xenon was banned? What is this thread even about?

You thought wrong. EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2014.
So Rupp's lifetime pbs are 12:58 and 26:44 then?
