Because as soon as he runs against all of the world he'll slip right back to 12th or so.
Plus his wigger attitude doesn't generate many fans.
Get real. If you think that 7 years in a third world country and all you have to show for it is 3rd in a minor competition then I hope you aren'r an investment councilor.
I agree with OP and I'm pretty sure the LRC haters are just jealous that he had the balls to do what no one else did and it paid off.

Please tell me this is a drunk sentence.
I'd be pretty tickled to get a commonwealth medal. Its a hell of a lot more impressive than a PanAms medal, and I'd be pretty tickled with one of those too.
Hell, I'm still tickled with the pennant my college coach gave me for leading my team to victory in a dual meet over a decade ago. I was the surprise winner of the 3k.
Congrats to him. Hard work and dedication paid off, and I for one consider it a big pay off.

I think the OP was sarcastic.

Well you lot still get excited about Webb who never medalled in anything other than national competitions
It's tougher to win a medal here than in the Europeans so rank 3rd for him behind WC and OG and is a great achievement and far more than most would have predicted
That's pretty amazing IMHO. The Robertsons definitely have the balls to live their dreams...

had the balls to do what no one else did? Most letsrunners are americans, so couldn't compete at the commonwealth games even if they wanted to run a minor competition. He'd be struggling to make top 10 at USATFs.

The Commonwealth games are not a " minor event".
The only people who are not here who matter are the Americans and the Ethiopians. Eritrea wouldn't have cracked the top five if you add the US and Ethiopia.
As someone (two people actually) said, it is far deeper and far more challenging than the PanAmerican games and European championship.
The Robertsons (well, one of them) did very well. Their decision to go to akenya paid off and now, together with Nick, they are trail bllazers in New Zealand...well, ...sort of.
Just yesterday, Blessing Okagbare won the 100m in a breath taking (literally and figuratively) 10.85.
She could have won it no matter who head been left out had all top female athletes been in this race.
That is commonwealth games for you. It is the place to be.
that's a brilliant outcome for one robertson, i suspect for both. tragic and heroic all on one race.
you got to love the voyage, running in the highlands of kenya might like an animal might we worth it alone. but there has to be a point to the running doesn't there?
nice one robertson knocked off a medal! in the commonwealth games taking out some mates = kenyan's in the process!
justifying or making an excuse for all that fun running in the mountains.
These kids have come so far and still have so much potential. Keep in mind these kids have no coach and no sponsor as well I believe. They throw themselves in the lion's den in Addis and Iten and are finally starting to reap the benefits. One of them will be going under 13 soon enough.
They keeps it real! You can't knock what's real!

No. Considering that countries that win the most medals at major championships are Russia, USA and Germany and none of these participate at CG I would say it is a minor event.
European championship is evidently far more prestigious. Just count the medals that the countries competing at CG got in WCh and the number of medals that European countries got. Easy win for Europe.

And exactly how many of those medals were won in the men's 5,000m?

Top 10 at USATFs? HAHAHA! So he would have finished somewhere between a couple of ZAP fitness athletes in 13:45 for 10th this year?
Or maybe you meant another year? Oh wait, USATFs didn't even HAVE ten runners last year. What a laugh
Finalists in the 5000 in recent OGs and WCs have come from the US, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Morocco, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Spain, Algeria, Norway, Italy, and many other non-Commonwealth countries.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! On the men's side, I counted 30 medals for the Commonwealth and 14 for Europe. Do I need to keep counting the women's side too or do you feel stupid enough already?

You're not serious are you?

Robertson / CG = 13:16
(1) Lagat / USATF = 13:31
(2) Bumbalough / USATF = 13:32
(3) Mead / USATF = 13:32
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
