Kamph still Team Minnesota.
Finnerty with Furman Elite.
Really a fast time for Kampf.
what do you think this converts to on the track? +5 for top men, +7 for top women?
1. What's the prize money, if any?
2. Does Finnerty have a sponsor?
3. Glad to see there's a race for shay
Yeah how was the course? Flat? Do people usually run faster on road miles or track??
Don't know how "fast" or "slow" this mile course is, but Kampf held the course record at 4:30 or so. I think this was a really fast race for her and a PR.
Prize money is $1000, $500, $250. Finnerty runs for Furman Elite. The course is a flat, straight shot, with a downhill around 3/4 mark.
Finnerty's PR for 1500 is 3:38, so his 3:56 is in the ballpark.
The women had 5 runners under the course record that was set by Kampf last year.
People like you rock.

Limo is a long distance runner....won Grandma's Half this year. If she comes in 2nd at a mile race, it's not a particularly impressive win for Kampf.
Actually, I would say Limo ran really good, she was just ahead of Eccleston who has a PR of 4:09 for 1500m.
Yeah, a victory in 4:21 on a road mile for women is hardly impressive at all. Not. If Limo comes in 2nd, that doesn't say anything about the winner, rather the field as a whole..and this was not a 5th ave mile caliber type race, which by the way a 4:21 would've been 2nd last year behind Jenny S, and ahead of a lot of strong names.

Hard to compare courses, but Shay Mile course is a bit more downhill and they did have a strong tailwind so that probably helped it be fast. Either way, Kampf ran a mile in 4:21 and I say it was a great win for her, despite what previous poster thinks!

People usually run faster on the track except that a fair number of road miles are point to point and have an overall net drop.
For the Ryan Shay Mile, the net drop is 5.6 meters/km, so that works out to be a total drop for about 9 meters (about 30 feet) for the 1 mile course.
I don't know how much faster that would make the Ryan Shay Mile course vs a flat road mile, it would depend on how the actual topography but I'm sure there is a calculator or crusty old runner type somewhere that could estimate how much time would be gained from a 30 foot drop in a one mile race. And since it is point-to-point, head wind vs tail wind can also be a factor.
To be record-eligible for USATF standards, the net drop cannot exceed 1.0 meters/kilometer.
Limo took it out in 62 and 2:07 to get the $250 800m "prime" for the clear leader at the half
Favorable wind?
Yea, decent tail wind
Finnerty ran 4:07 for second place at a flat loop course road mile in Arkansas last month. If we assume he is in about the same shape, then the downhill profile and the tailwind aided him by 11 seconds.
Of course his fitness level could be better or worse. So basically, I've added nothing to this discussion.
You're welcome guys.
