He just made this statement.
"Many of you may know others may not, but I have accepted an assistant coaching job at Saginaw Valley State in Michigan. Coaching is something I have developed a passion for over the years and wanted to pursue it as a career. I felt the time was right for me to move on from my own running and help young men and women achieve their own goals in running.
The sport of running has opened so many doors for me and has been a life changing thing for me. I couldn't imagine where I would be without running. I have been training and racing at a high level for the past 16 years of my life. Its been a roller coaster ride with some serious lows and highs. But one thing that running has taught me throughout all of this..is the ability to battle no matter the circumstances. The ability to raise to the occasion when no one expects you to. The ability to mentally stay in it when no one understand why you do it.
Honestly, I wouldn't have made it this far if it weren't for my family and friends. They have always believed, but probably wondered why I still wanted to do it. For them I am thankful. I am also thankful for the communities I have been apart of (Rockford, Eugene, Boulder). You all played a part in developing who I am today.
To Elise Cranny, the Cranny family, as well as all the kids that touched my life at Niwot. Thank you. You all gave me the belief and passion that I could be a coach. I thank you all.
Also thank all the coaches I have had. I learned a great deal from each of you and will take the life lessons and apply it to me as a coach.
A special thank you to Angelina Ramos. She suffered through it all with me. She was there for me when my foot was broken when i was in another cross roads in my life. She suffered through the times where I was training real hard and probably wasn't always the easiest to be around. She believed in me more then anyone in my abilities even If i always didn't. I am thankful to have to in my life.
I could continue to go on for days but I won't. I appreciate all the support everyone has given me through the years. I am forever thankful for each of you that touched my life. I won't forget it. For the millionth time thank you all for the support "
Good luck coaching, Jason.
