Boy are you stupid. You have pointed out that the entire country is ignorant, and not just Eugene. Good for you.
But the rest of the country does not call itself "track country." Eugene embarrasses itself annually by inviting the world to an IAAF elite event to be cheered on by "knowledgeable" fans who still aren't aware the IAAF has been METRIC-ONLY since the 1960's, or that the IOC has never used anything but metric.
Sorry to break it to you, but if you don't know a 2.40 high jump from a 2.25, or an 86 meter javelin throw from an 82, you know nothing at all of track and field. Knowledgeable fans can watch Zurich and Brussels without Dwight Freaking Stones translating the marks for them.
I can tell you have never lived in Eugene. Only tourists fall for the track town hype.
