Just looked him up he's a 2:21 guy (Houston ftw). Pretty impressive.
Nice run.
That was quite entertaining
No showing first beer was empty (no over the head, upside down)?
63 seconds in his final lap 4 beers in. In the words of Lauren Fleshman, "That was just balls."
That's likely why it won't be ratified as a record.Would also want to know what beer he used...is at least 5%.

He said in the video he was using Budweiser - 5.0%
This better be ratified - James has put down some impressive times in his day, but none superseded the magic witnessed on that day. 2 NCAA DII 5K championships... BAH!
I think Mr. Symmonds had best get to training. I see potential for this rivalry - very Gebrselassie vs. Tergat-esque. Only time will tell...
Well done James!!
that was an awesome display of running skillz - he wins.
We can't tell if he finished that first beer. Sorry James. :(
The "ratification" and the "official" rules of these things is just stupid.
I ran a beer mile with light beer and I'm proud of it. It's not the alcohol content that's difficult - you don't get drunk from the race.
You show up drunk. That's the secret.

DIII.
He should get a pass for the first beer since he did it for the next 3. Fair to assume he just forgot
Kind of funny how he goes through all of the rules (notably the over the head rule) and then promptly forgets to hold the first beer over his head. I doubt this will count because of that. Rules are rules.

We don't even know if there was any beer in the cans to start with.

That was my other issue. The ones he does hold over his head are done so half-assed and close to his hair that you have no room to see if any beer is possibly dripping.
OOOHH, Nick Symmonds in your face!!

I blame that first beer mishap on race day jitters. Surely he could repeat this performance if not ratified.
Yeah, shouldn't the beer cans be put in a receptacle to be sent to WADA to measure alcohol content?
And shouldn't there be at least one competitor and an official starter and timing device?
All that said, there is more evidence to call this record legit than any records held by the Chinese women.

That's what I was thinking. I hope he does repeat the performance, and less sloppily next time.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
