When he took the lead, I knew he would leave everything he had on the line... 2 world major, combined with a bronze and a 4th place at the OG, well, Meb is definitely the best distance runner of american history

A lot of times you'll hear people say, "He was willing to die to win that race." I think Meb was legitimately willing to die to win today. It was awesome.

Meb won Silver at the Olympics not bronze.
Meb has more guts than any of our marathoners since Kannouchi.
BTW BOTH of these AMERICANS were proud to represent the red white and blue.

Umm, I don't think Kannouchi was at all. I say that as someone who hates all that non-American garbage too. He just always would go for the payday.

Nonsense. He has a much better sense of perspective.

No joke, he was gritting his teeth 10 miles from the finish. You know he was hurting, but he kept pushing.

Not true.
Meb could just say that all the prior bio info out there is mistaken, including his own autobiography, and print up a Hawaiian birth certificate.

Obama's full bio from the 1991 brochure:
Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii. The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation. He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago's South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.
Excellent example. Was a kid when i watched that race but i was mesmerized and knew it was something special.

Its pretty simple , you have a experienced veteran knowing what it takes to be competitive in a major marathon , meticulous in his build up and balancing cross training to make up for his age. Executing a plan that the other athletes thought this older runner will fade and real racing can begin , little did they know he was not going to let up or fade.
I like it he doesn't have to chase training like others going to far regions to train , he keeps it simple , Mammoth and San Diego.
Maybe others will look at what he is doing , see a pattern of success and follow.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
