I'm training for my first ultra relay which is about 9-10 weeks out.
Originally I planned on joining a team of 12 runners to split up the legs, but the only spot available was on a team of 6 runners, which means we're doubling up on legs. I'm runner 6, and my 3 legs are 10 miles each, putting me at 30 total (impressive math, I know).
I have only done one relay before (Hood To Coast), and I've never done this many miles in one day. I'm currently training for a marathon in late August and thought this would be a good opportunity to push my endurance. I'm a fairly experienced runner (just completed my 5th half marathon last week), and plan to run my legs slowest to fastest in order to conserve energy and create a mock race environment for myself.
I should have 4-5 hours of rest in between each leg.
Has anyone trained for a race like this? What did your plan look like?
