Ridiculous. We need a classic 5k indicator, such as 10x400. Rest doesn't matter.
5:44-6:21.

nonsense
my calculator says 4.82 -> 16.16 -> 38.10 -> 1'29.66 -> 3'24.93 -> 6'59.57 -> 25'55.40 -> 54'05.25 -> 4:12'27.03 !!
this line is of course based on only the finest maths and predicts the OP's capability in every olympic event from the 100 to specifically the marathon ( as requested ) from his 40 yd dash
of course this is dependent on wabbits to the near end or the bell, only the finest conditions, and even pacing
mark my words, 4:12'27.03 !!
You will never make it.
DNF.
about 4:05
That's a Good guess. I'll go 3:59.67 just in case the 40y was against the wind.Plaidimir Vutin wrote:

2:21 because anybody posting on LRC can run 2:20s
Duck you.

drivel
The Marathon is run on a track, a cinder track! That's 1 second per lap so you need to add 1:45.49
~ 4:14:12.52 is what the OP will run based on a 4.82.
1:32:37 if you can build your endurance a bit.
5:32:24
At the very top end 2:10 to 2:35 with all the stars aligned (10% confidence)
Your athleticism would indicate a 30% chance you could train up to a 2:35-2:50
A better than even chance you can hit the historic 3:05 Boston Q time
Less than 7% chance you can not go out and cobble together a 3:45.

blah
what a nonsensical/irrelevant statement.
I have told you, 4:12'27.03
fun factoid: jim ryun in his prime, when he could've ran 1'39.xx in present day, was perfectly capable of a 2:00'35.18 in a present day dubai/london/berlin marathon with + mileage.
The answer is...
3:21.21
(thank you all for playing; I'm sure the 19:29, 42:27, 1:35.42 numbers would not have helped)
What distance is the marathon?
Which course? Paris? London? NYC? Berlin?
It's impossible to say accurately without further detail, but I can assure you, if you can keep that initial speed up for 26.2 miles, you'll be a solid marathoner.
Adjust on your tempo runs.
This is the best thread ever.
