Will Leer ran as stupid as you possibly can. You cannot make up 2 seconds over 200m in a race of this calibre. you need to be near the front. He blasted the last 150m to go from last to 3rd last.

He did not run stupid. He just was not good enough to win or take top 3 in this field.
Sounds like he didn't have it...
Nope. Plenty left at end. No confidence to make an earlier strong move. Pathetic.

Nope
He ran stupid.
He ran a 3'52 mile = 3'35 1500
He should absolutely have been able to go with the pace
Sitting in DFL the entire race and then kicking it home in the home straight past 2-3 people is stupid

He had it, but when you are 3 seconds behind the leaders when you start kicking, you will never catch them in an international meet.
His performance at Millrose may have left him with the idea that he can simply kick his way to any victory. That's a plausible idea, but when competing against people who can also kick, it's best to be near the front if possible.
No telling what he was thinking though.

If he had it, he wouldn't have been 3 seconds back. His hair is foolish, but he is no fool
Video for those that didn't see it.

Wow, really? I'm calling you out on this. This is the most fvcking stupid post I have ever seen. Really? Who are you to judge the actions of a man who does easy runs faster than your mile pr?
Reasons why your post is stupid and you should feel stupid:
1. there is no way you can tell, via video or live in person, just how much anyone has at the end of a race. This isn't like your phone, where you can check how much fvcking battery you have left.
2. There is also no way that you would know what confidence he has or does not have
3. You pass judgement on things you have no right to pass judgement on.
You, who are not an international caliber athlete, are not allowed to say anything or pass any judgement on the actions of those that are. This is because you do not nearly have 1/1000 of the ability of these people. I don't care if it's Leer, Cain, Rupp, or a fvcking fish with legs. Shame on you for even thinking you can comment on this, troll or no troll.
In closing, fvck off

He LOST GROUND to the leaders in the final 300 meters. Obviously he was not capable of "going with the pace."
Watched the video, I have no idea what he was thinking. Clearly he had another gear coming to the line. I can't say I know enough about Leer's racing to say whether or not he usually is a good tactician in situations like this, but that was poor racing.
Okay, Mr. "Calling you out", calm down. You're reinforcing stereotypes here.

This.
Some of the worst users on LetsRun are the ones who aren't even good at running, but somehow after every race they could have won the race with their expert tactics.
He ran the strategy that got him into the Worlds final. Changing that, when he his PBs are weaker than the top competition, would be the foolish move. He got stuck behind slowing runners, just as at USAs, but that goes with the territory. At Millrose the pace was heavier, so things opened up well for him.
He'll do well on the Euro circuit this summer.
No I think he's pretty foolish.
The Amish look isn't working either

Hey, Ventolin!
He only got stuck behind slowing runners because he put himself there. Willis didn't medal but he made sure that he was always in a position where he could control his own destiny. Stupid versus Dumb.

So fire all restaurant critics, movie reviewers, baseball, football, basketball writers, beat reporters, sports columnists, political opinion makers, talk show hosts (whether it's sports, politics, entertainment), school boards (hey they're not teachers!) and anyone else that forms opinions on topics outsource their profession.
Ok then.
I'm a coach.
Call it as I see it. Have watched many, many non-confident runners run the same type of race on the track. As a coach I have to address this lack of confidence with athletes after these type of races all the time.
For a professional, it is a pathetic way to race. Sorry.
I would be interested to here what Will Leer says about his race. My guess he says something similar about how he ran.
