Unless she is hauling her entire staff of assistant's with her it might not have been a bad idea.
If you read the press release it is at the bottom of the release.

The kicker is she wasn't the first pick! Tenn was turned down by numerous candidates that didn't see a great upside there. Don't know if they sensed turmoil in the Athletic Dept. or if there was a whiff of money problems or what, but people definitely said no and turned them down....we'll see what she can build in the next 5 years and if the move was worth it.
who was the others that they offered the job?

If I were the AD at Tenn, i'd hire Connie Price Smith. Pay her enough that her husband John can volunteer, go to Kansas and get Wayne Pate to coach my jumpers, grab Gavin Kennedy from Wisconsin for my distance groups (men and women), and have 3 open slots to build my dream team. I might fill one slot with just a full time recruiter. Tennessee has the money to make a big move, if they really decide to make a committment to the team it is a location that you can win.

What has Kennedy done at Wisconsin to warrant a return trip to the SEC? He already got fired from one SEC school.
She seems to have been pretty successful at Penn State. Not sure why you guys are slamming her so much.
If coaches have passed on Tennessee, it might have something to do with the fact that they're tearing down the indoor track facility (outdated & unsafe) and replacing it with yet another football practice field, etc. How do you draw recruits or coaches when you are not committed with even basic indoor facilities? The worst part is there is really no remaining footprint on campus that would support an indoor track.
JJ Clark can now choose between UConn and Penn State. I predict JJ will coach at UConn.
PSU runs awesome in January and February. Nowhere to be found come Indoor Nats or outdoors.
The people on the board here are pessimistic
So those rumors about the Uconn position being filled were made up? I'm surprised there hasn't been an announcement yet?
Use your google dear. It's pretty obvious. Good results from current athletes, great signing class. In fact great signing class everywhere he's been. Have you found a new job yet Erin?
