I agree Washington is even worse at developing Women runners then Stanford is. I almost feel sorry for Maxwell almost lol hope she likes losing a lot at Washington. Honestly how does Washington makes thier runners worse once they get to college???????????????? thanks
Hard to run well when you are forbidden to eat. No calories = no energy.
I do wish American runners had more of an opportunity to shine on the NCAA stage.
Didn't Jordan Hassay just run at the World Championships?
That's a pretty high bar to do better than in college.
Jordan was an 18-time All American. Number 12 in the world in the 10K at age 21. Not too shabby. It will be interesting to see if Baxter can top this. We all know it's a long road ahead. Anything can happen.

This is stupid. Have you seen photos of the Washington women? Goethals had her issues before joining Washington and has done much to address them. Meyers was very thin as a HS senior, but is certainly a healthy size now. Flood, Neale, Knight -- strong women; not exactly waif-like.
I agree with others that they're not running to their potential (maybe Flood is), but it's stupid to suggest it's due to dietary restrictions for the coaches. I suspect their experiences with Goethals might make them lean the other way if anything.
I don't think it's stupid to suggest that. Did you see Schaaf before she left Washington?! Doesn't seem to be a healthy environment there.
If it isn't dietary, it must be the coaching. Definitely there are problems with that program.
I agree it got to be coaching i couldn't fathom why any Cross Country runner or track and field runner would want to go to Washington. They seem to make thier runners especially on the Women's side a lot worse once they get to Washington. It should be that the High School runners get better once at College. It's awesome knowing Washington gets all these stud Women's Cross and Track and Field commits and will never even come close to beating Oregon on any year. GO DUCKS AND HUCK THE FUSKIES

Why is it that we all could predict that "coach d" would show up here with another of his inane posts. Your very "simple-minded" question deserves a simple response: Jenny Simpson did not race against the same foreign girls as did Jordan Hasay. A question for "coach dumb": how many All Americans did Jordan Hasay win during her outstanding collegiate career? Most of us around here don't put down great runners like Jenny Simpson, so why are you so intent to put down a great runner like Jordan Hasay?
I think what coach d was suggesting was that simpson is the best runner the US has produced in ages, not Hasay or Derrick, evidenced by her world gold and silver medals
I would challenge him on Jenny Simpson being a better US runner than either Galen Rupp or Matthew Centrowitz. She may be their equal as far as medals, but IMO she is running in an event that isn't as competitive as what Rupp or Centrowitz run.

So you're trying to tell me that they American runners don't have enough of an opportunity to shine? Hmmm... Abbey D, American. Emma Bates. American. Maksim Korolev. American. You can't complain. What do you want us to do? Send them back on a ship?

Typical a*hole guy. She has a world championship gold medal - neither of them do. Any jerk claiming otherwise doesn't deserve a woman. (you are now shut-off).
But it is silly to claim that either is better (apples to oranges) - and coach D is rather silly. This is SO much an American ideology that someone HAS to be better than another, when they could arguably be equally similar. Besides what the heck has this got to do with Baxter?
She has a world championship gold medal

Yes, in a race where two key runners tripped and fell down with one lap to go.
ask not what the university of oregon can do for sarah baxter, ask sarah baxter what she con do for the university of oregon.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
