Agreed talented for sure, but unlikely to make a major dent when all is said and done with h.s., let alone college and beyond.
When I was running age group in the late 70s through early 80s, there would've been plenty of kids that would've handled him the middle distances. I remember in running camp one of the guys in my age group ran about 17:40 for the legit 5k course...he was 10 years old.
With all of that said, I hope he has continued success and truly enjoys running.
