Damn, big result from True.
Actually replaces Steve Scott (7:36.69) as the 10th Fastest American All-Time over 3000m.

For all the sh*t Webb got he was nowhere as inconsistent as Manzano.
That's not just good that's crazy fast. Particularly at the end of a long season. The guy had a huge year, hope he can build on it for next year. Very nice to see guys like True, Derrick, and Hill step it up to the elite level just as some of the old guard stand down. Hope to see another one or two make the jump next year.

Very true. However, Leo has a much better history at meets that actually count (i.e. championships). Leo is the better of the two at running rounds and he has a medal to his name (Olympic Silver, no less).
Plus, when you run 3:53 in high school, the standards are a tad higher.
How can you say Manzano is so much better at running rounds he never makes it to the finals at major championships barring his silver medal and one other championship he doesnt make it to the final way more times than he does.
Wow, nice result for Infeld after not having a track season during the summer. The results don't list it as a PB, but I assume it must be, right?
True got SMOKED by Soi Sauce at the end there. It was laughable. With no speed he's just another Goucher or Kennedy.
He's still a B-lister overall, but is responding well now to the dope I guess.

Yeah he looks as bad as rupp does in the bell lap.

I would have given it to you, but you tried too hard. 2/10

Err? I didn't watch the race, was True that fart ahead of everyone that he was passed and finished so closely? Or, are you being absurd?

Agreed that Manzano has a bad history in World Championships/OGs....but it's still better than Webb's, and with much worse PRs no less.

Neither have a particularly bad history at World Championships and Olympic Games. They both finish about where you'd expect. The silver medal was an amazing anomaly. You honestly wouldn't expect Manzano to make the finals in most global championships he's been in. Webb ran well in his finals, just never unexpectedly amazing. It's only Leo's silver that now makes the rest of them seem disappointing by comparison.
Manzano made both Olympic teams he had an opportunity to make. In 2008 he was a collegiate athlete who won an NCAA title for his school (his fourth), then made the Oly team, and the Oly semifinal. That's a long, successful season. Then add the 2012 silver medal.
In comparison, Webb, who never won an NCAA title and devoted himself entirely to a pro career, made one Oly team and was out in the first round.
Manzano will be 31 by the time of the next World's. From a historical perspective, he's already had a long career and doesn't have to do anything else for it be an admirable one.
True is so overrated. This is still 100m behind Komen
Not if they were running today.
