Yes, but he still tested positive a second time. Even if it was AD medication, that should have taught him a lesson the first time. Also, we can't give excuses, else we have to do that for all. Example: SAFP was on pain meds for a toothache when she tested postive for Oxycodone.

What are you talking about? That is only from Jan-March of 2013. No info on how many times he was tested since March.

Agree about Gatlin beating thre big msan but not in those times. Try...Gatlin 9.75, Bolt 9.79.

Gatlin's run makes him a legitimate threat.

People may say Bolt wasn't trying at the time wasn't that fast, but Gatlin took it in the final 15 meters. It's not as if Bolt let Gatlin go and couldn't catch him.

To be clear, Gatlin is not one of my favorite athletes either. Although, I admire what he has been able to accomplish, I can't completely put aside what he has done. With that said, I don't know who the clean athletes are that he is competing against and I would rather cheer for a former doper than a current doper. In terms of long term benefits of PEDs, I have seen enough of athletes in several sports who got busted and could not come close to their old form. I doubt 4 years later Gatlin is still benefiting from PEDs, especially when you consider he ran fast before he started taking PEDs.

Gatlin is a competitor, he is at his best when it matters the most. Histories only sub 13.50/9.80/19.90 athlete.

If Bolt isn't in his 9.6 world he will lose to Gatlin. I do see the rounds hurting Bolt more, I don't think he's in his usual shape.

This is a tough thing. His 9.77 adjusts to 9.85, and his 9.79 later on adjusts to 9.86, I think.

Those times are both right at what I consider to be the best possible demonstrated clean basic times, by Surin and Fredericks.

It is really undeniable that the 9.77 was doped. ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL, his 9.79 last year would be believable, but only just, as almost equal to the best-ever clean, behind by a scant .01

But are all other things equal? No. He HAS used, which means 2 things to me:

1) there is the possibility that he retains benefit, and

2) there is the heightened possibility that he is using again, assuming he knew he was using, and that such use represents a basic character flaw that could repeat itself, or continue to manifest.

Gatlin is for me like Bolt--incredibly naturally talented, probably naturally capable of being up there with the best ever, maybe even slightly better than Surin, Fredericks, or Bailey, and maybe equal to, or just behind, or maybe even just a bit better than, a clean Bolt.

But it is impossible to talk about that possibility at this point, as he HAS used.
