I am a 21 year old male college distance runner. I have have been having low energy, decreased strength, and sleeping issues every since last cross country season. It really got bad during indoor track season, so I went for a blood test and my testosterone levels were ridiculously low (lower than a women's should be). My endocrinologist had me take chlomifene citrate for the past 11 weeks. He also told me to back off of training and gain some weight. I have gained 12 pounds, and did not compete in outdoor season, although I still ran to stay in shape. I have taken the last two weeks with no running. My blood tests came back this week, and there was an slight improvement in testosterone levels, but it is still way too low. Could my problem have been causes by too much endurance training? Has anyone experienced this? If so, are there any suggestions or advice from any distance runner who has been through this?
