just plain dumb.
just plain dumb.
Does he still train with Bobby Kersee's group?
"for committing an anti-doping rule violation in which he failed to file his whereabouts information."
Not for using. But, for no paperwork. What a joke.
not paperwork. For failing to be found when he was supposed to be tested. You are supposed to provide your whereabouts at all times and be available. You either avoid the testers if you're using, or you are just stupid. Especially since you are given 3 chances. Unless he is retiring and never filed the retirement forms like Chris L.
I would call him a moron, but I'm sure he was just avoiding testing.
Crawford has been working as a trainer at GS Gym in Los Angles since last summer I'm betting he has hung up his spikes.

Crawford was coached by Trevor Graham previously and was 1 of 2 athletes who didn't get busted in the whole BALCO thing according to this thread.
Anyone getting a suspension doesn't surprise me too much these days especially Shawn Crawford.
Forgot to post link to thread:
He's 37 now, maybe he just retired and didn't bother notifying the proper people. He was 7th at the trials last year in the 200, and I'm not sure if he did anything after that.
Note that I am not arguing that he is definitely clean.
Lukezic style, right?
utter & total stoopidity, which tarnishes a legend's name
the guy has been effectively retired for 3y with only 20.4+ clockings
i spent $10k to go to athens
pre-booked to see the
"200 of the century"
which the greeks hoped/prayed woud give them their
"freeman '00 moment"
they were hoping for kenteris to beat the 3 US guys & i reckoned kenteris wouda been in high-19.6 shape there
( he had run 19.85 into 0.5, on a wet night in '02 winning euros, but didn't defend wc in '03 because of injury
( probably steroid resultant ligament/tendon overcapacity "snaps" )
euros was a probable mid, even low 19.7 calibre run on a dry, windless day
all kenteris knew was he wanted he wanted to double-cheat-gold
( never been done until bolt, although carl ran sh!t defense in '88 - shouda run
low-19.6 with more disclipined bend )
coud one of the US guys beat him ?
zebra opened with 19.88 (0.3) !!!
he didn't need to do more than run 20-flat semi/final, but only won final by 0.01 from gatlin
( a guy who was always a better 200 than 100 guy - ran 19.8 as kid - he was likely 19'6 shape in trials in a "1-off" but coudn't reproduce in athens 200 as 8th race of meet for guy shifting to 100 training )
it was tragic when kenteris was banned from games for missing tests, from pre-booking point of view, but shawn's gold was worth it ( i'll repost a historical wiki article later )
( of course he was doping & it was obvious from '01 when he ran 20-flat semi when easing the finish
low-19.8 shape that meet
he likely doped in '00 win & got more ambitious in '01 on, but dope overstrains body & he absented '03wc )
i didn't get to see the "race of century" as kenteris banned after i'd booked, but i'd bet good money shawn wouda beaten him in
low-19.6 v high-19.6
Crawford was the idiot who was goofing with Gatlin at the finish of a race several years ago, before Gatlin's suspension.
At a fading 37 years of age, you would think that he would care more about his legacy and reputation than to occasion what seems like a ridiculous sanction.
Almost positive he trained with Bobby Kersee's group a few years ago too, there's pics of him with Kerron Clement and Dawn Harper.
What is not mentioned is that no one notifies you to file paper work if you retire.
It will not be the last time this will happen or last.
I would hope that they would add protocol that simply would have sign or call in , Im retired and take me off the list.
He could have grounds for a lawsuit.
He's 35.

and he trains with Bob Kersee:

Lets get the facts straight is all.
Actually, he cares most about his wife's career now. I think he only raced 4 times last year, and 3 of those were in the Olympic Trials. Next to last in the OT 200m final.
Hard to believe he was avoiding the testers to cover up the drugs that were enabling him to run 20.48...unless he wanted another shot at that zebra.
ET forgot to phone home.
OK then, 35
Wait, that changes everything! Oh no, it doesn't.
It does, however, highlight the recent exploits of Collins and Patton.
Yeah, but to let something like this happen, it sucks.
I was amazed that he made the final!
Maybe he can file a retroactive retirement.
Which would you rather take:
--The stupidity excuse;
--The Lashawn Merritt excuse (viagra or something).
A couple of things to keep in mind:
He used to have in his house an aquarium filled with piranha. His Olympic medals were on the bottom of the aquarium. At the top of the aquarium was a sign that read, "Fish at your own risk."
He has a truck that looks like it came from Fred Sanford.
